Three supermarkets including the hottest Wal Mart

  • Detail

Wal Mart and other three supermarkets' plastic bags were exposed to have no QS logo

by June 1, the implementation period of the "plastic restriction order" will be three years. However, the survey report released by the International Food Packaging Association yesterday showed that the abuse of continuous roll bags in supermarkets still exists, and the use of ultra-thin plastic bags in agricultural wholesale markets is on the rise. The roll on bags used in Wal Mart Sam's club store, Wangshi Baili, Tesco and other supermarkets were exposed to have no QS logo and words such as "for food"

- current market situation I:

Tesco's roll on bag has no QS logo

according to the regulations, pre packaged bags and other plastic bags that contact directly imported food are not within the scope of charges, but must comply with the relevant provisions of "plastic bags for food" and be printed with QS logo and "food" and other information. The investigation found that the roll on bags used by Wal Mart Sam's club store (Shijingshan store), Wangshi Baili supermarket (Century City store) and Tesco supermarket (dachengdong store) in fresh food and food areas did not have any signs. The International Food Packaging Association believes that consumers of roll on bags without any labeling information had better not use them, because in order to reduce costs, the manufacturers of these roll on bags may add a large number of toxic and harmful substances such as industrial grade calcium carbonate in the production process. When this kind of roll on bags is used to contain acid and oil-bearing food, calcium carbonate will dissolve, precipitate and enter the human body through food, causing serious damage to health

- market status II:

seven wholesale markets still use ultra-thin bags

many agricultural wholesale markets still ignore the existence of "plastic restriction order". Dealers follow the past "tradition" and generously exempt consumers from requirements because they don't want to lose customers. They can calculate the maximum force, tensile strength, peel strength, flexural strength, compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, elongation at break, yield strength and other parameters, and provide ultra-thin plastic bags (above), resulting in an increase in the use of ultra-thin plastic bags. In addition, among the 10 markets surveyed, 7 markets used plastic shopping bags lower than the national regulations of 0.025 mm, including Shuitun agricultural and sideline products wholesale market, yuegezhuang agricultural and sideline products wholesale trading market, Yuquan Sihai agricultural and sideline products market, Zhanghua village agricultural and sideline products market, Beijing Oriental Tianzuo Mall (second floor underground), Chaoyang Liulitun market, and Chengbei Huilongguan commodity trading market. Among them, the plastic shopping bags uniformly used in Yuquan Sihai farmers' market are only 0.011mm thick after careful measurement, and they also have a peculiar smell

- expert point of view:

economic stimulus is not a long-term solution

Dong Jinshi, executive vice president and Secretary General of the International Food Packaging Association, believes that the adoption of economic stimulus will only achieve remarkable results in the short term, and people will be accustomed to it in the long run. Just like the rise in the price of gasoline, people still accept it despite complaints, which still fails to achieve the purpose of plastic restrictions. Humans have been relying on plastic bags for too long. Supermarkets and farmers' markets are full of fresh food, and garbage is collected at home. It is impossible to suddenly stop using plastic bags without other substitutes. Therefore, while strengthening publicity and education to let people form the habit of using less plastic shopping bags, it is urgent to step up the research and development of lightweight, safe and environmental friendly plastic bags to replace the experimental machine with pollution-free and effective substitutes

Hong Kong plans to charge flat plastic bags

on May 17, 2011, the environmental protection department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government issued a consultation document, suggesting that the scope of the environmental levy plan for plastic shopping bags should be extended to all retailers, and flat plastic bags without arms should be included in the plan

it is suggested in the consultation document of the best plan that the charging plan will be expanded from only about 3000 retail stores to about 60000 retail stores in Hong Kong, regardless of the wide temperature range and size of retailers. No retail store is allowed to distribute plastic bags free of charge. Retailers must charge a fee for distributing plastic bags and maintain the levy level of HK $5 each
